Spring 2025 Outfit ideas to try, use as a styling reference, or shop from! When winter starts to transition to spring, it is always one of the happiest seasons - you get to start shedding layers, feel the sun on your skin again, and major events like wedding season, spring break, and vacation weeks start returning again. More than any other season, everyone seems so excited to embrace new patterns and colors and show their happiness with the breaking weather in their clothes.

One of the challenges of the season is finding the right mix of jubilance, florals (for spring? groundbreaking), and staying warm enough, while embracing the warmer - but often still quite cold - weather. In my first years living in NYC (after growing up in LA), it always shocked me how spring days could be 40 degrees one week, and 75 degrees the next. So for ideas for 2025 I'm mixing warm weather and cooler items, heavier fabrics and bright colors. And always make sure to keep a great long trench coat or oversized leather jacket to throw over for mornings, nights, and the last cold snaps of winter.

Adding an unexpected pair of socks to your styling pulls a summery outfit more toward slightly colder weather of spring - and do add a bit of warmth to your legs and feet.

2. Button Up Shirts over everything

I've been obsessed with casual button ups the last couple of years. Throw one over a bikini for a chic pool look, a little dress for warmth, or tuck one into a pair of linen shorts for an old money aesthetic.

3. Matching skirt and coat sets

I am always a lover of a matching set - but a skirt and coat is so much more unexpected than a top and bottom set, and makes an outfit feel styled and intentional. I've had this plaid House of Harlow set for going on 6 or 7 years now and still pull it out every fall and spring.

5. white/cream linen pants and trousers

Wide-leg and linen pants are a classic that have become a staple the last few years, while still feeling fresh and modern - and available in a wide variety of price points, cuts, and styles. I love a pant for the added warmth in a transitional season while a light color is still giving vacation and fresh spring. I love a fully lined pant to wear for early in the season, nights, or particularly breezy days.

4. Mini Skirt, Baby Tee and Sneakers 

A casual look with comfortable shoes for a day of serious walking - whether that be exploring a city on a spring trip or just running errands in your own town in something other than your favorite leggings

This look would be great with a classic, timeline long trench coat over for an effortless vibe with added warmth. 

6. Midi Skirt with high slits

High waisted midi skirts are some of my most worn pieces in all seasons - they are unbelievably versatile, flattering, breezy but the length adds warmth when needed, and a slit makes for easy movement and looks great in photos. 

Pair one with boots or sandals, a long sleeve mockneck top or a bralette crop - it all works. These skirts look amazing with a blazer on top for warmth and more coverage.

7. Oversized leather (or vegan leather) jacket + mini skirt

An oversized leather (or vegan leather) jacket looks so much more modern and current this year than a tight, cropped leather jacket - and while I will always love and keep my trusty All-Saints Leather Biker Jacket, I've been leaving it in my closet the last couple of years and going for a dark brown oversized leather instead. A bigger jacket over a mini skirt or mini dress looks so effortless and is an instant cool-girl vibe.

8. Maxi Dresses in vibrant colors

The best transitional season style advice I've heard is: dress weather appropriate in seasonal colors. Where in, a maxi dress with maybe a jacket over will keep you warm enough for spring, a bright, vibrant color feels fresh and optimistic after a long winter. Give yourself a jolt of happiness with bright yellows, greens, pinks, or whatever colors speak to you!

9. Longer Skirts and Dresses in thick fabrics

Thicker fabrics - cozy knits, heavy cottons, and skirts and dresses that are fully lined - can be key for seasonal transitions and staying warm while starting to shed layers.

The perfect time for all of your brightest patterns and happiest dresses! I've recently become obsessed with novelty prints like seashell prints, fruit prints, and dresses that look like paintings - especially when I can match the themes to my travel destinations. 

11. White Linen or Tailored Shorts

White linen and tailored shorts continue to be the staple piece for spring through summer. From beach to office, with heels, sneakers, sandals, and bikinis to button downs, they go with everything and always give a hint of old money aesthetic and put-togetherness.

As someone with bigger hips and smaller waist that struggles to get the fit of shorts right, these are my go-to pair, with legs and booty room to spare.
